So BP has been very busy with his new son Rowan (aka Row-Train), work, having a larger reffing schedule for the past 2 weeks, taking care of Erin, and pretty much just being the awesome husband that makes Erin smile. He has been doing all this while enduring a major lack of sleep because of the Row-Train. So pictures have finally been developed (and yes there are some on his desk) but just hasn't had time to post them to a blog.
However, BP has had the itch to blog on a topic that needs to be addressed. It was addressed by Mr. Adam "da bull" Turnbull in one of his blogs and also has been debated in email exchanges between the two of them (and Scott Moore - daddy of Johnny Rocket). So BP wants to bring this to light and see where the world thinkgs. The topic TAYLOR SWIFT.
BP is a Taylor Swift fan. He doesn't wear Taylor shirts or watch CMT frantically for her videos to come on but he owns her CDs and would even be up for seeing her in concert. Now others have a strong dislike for her like Bull since Bull takes the time to blog against her. Scott is more of simply "I don't like her" if he is asked but Bull will lash out about her if you even mention a name that starts with 'T' But this blog is not against them but against all who dislike Taylor to the point you wish she would go away.
So here is BP's argument: BP agrees that Taylor is not the best singer. She sounds great on CD but live she is lowered to a good level when seen live. So that point BP is agrees on. However, her lyrics are solid. Immature are not the right word for her lyrics. Sure they may not speak to an aging 30 year old but to young girls and to BP who loves to reminence (spelling?), her lyrics are very cleverly put together to tell about high school love. Immature could be said about Jonas Brothers songs such as "Burnin' Up" that reads - I'm slippin into the lava.......cause I'm burnin up, burnin up for you baby. So Taylor sings about a love interest she had in terms of Romeo and Juliet is brilliant when compared to burning your foot in lava for a girl. And Taylor Authors/Co-Authors 75% of her songs but do you think Jonas Brothers even could come up with Lava on their own. BP doubts it but not dissing on Jonas Brothers...to each his own.
Nor is Taylor writing songs about sex or what sexual things she wants boys to do to her. Boys II Men is one of BP's all time favorite groups but even they wanted girls to know that "I'll Make Love To You". And compared to what is out there now, BP would let Rowan listen to that Boys II Men song 99 times before listening to some of this other trash. Her songs are clean and don't even cross over to the sexual inuendos category.
Another point, Taylor Swift is a true role model. She doesn't cuss (besides the one time in Tear Drops on My Guitar song), dresses appropriately, doesn't talk like she is a teeny bopper, and is always grateful for her rewards. Most girls (aka Brittney, Christna, Jessica, etc), with exception of Mandy Moore, who are in the main stream start crossing the line of "trashy" at Taylor's age. Even one of my all time favorites Carrier Underwood has got me a little worried on a couple occasions, but Taylor is holding strong. Taylor hasn't even came close to the trashy line.
Another argument is that she calls herself country but some don't consider her country. Who cares. To be honest there needs to be a new category of music call cross over for those who can swing the country and pop banners such as Taylor. Don't hate on her but hate on her manager and country music for allowing her to do it. But country music is changing. That doesn't mean old country is less important. It probaby makes Charlie Daniels, George, Alabama, etc even more valuable but change isn't bad. There are still the pure country artist out there. It is not like Taylor is beating up George and threatening to take his manhood from him. The old country guys I know are not afraid of the new country and especially of a 19 year old girl. So not a legit argument.
So girls now have a legit role model to look up to in a world where majority of secular music is becoming R-rated and some people are bashing the lone light that is walking straight. It is ok not to like her but why bash on a girl who is doing everything right just because she may not be the best singer. Can you blame her that she has a decent voice with an A+ stage precense. So don't bash Taylor but lets hope she maintains this role model life style for future singers that our young babies may listen too in the near future.

Okay, I can see some of your argument about her being a good role model. I will give you that. I also agree that the lyrics are ones in which I would have LOVED in high school. I listened to the song about 15...yeah, I can see how teenagers are using that as their anthem! I have to agree w/ the Bull though that her singing is mediocre. I mean, really..."entertainer of the year?" Would you agree that is a bit much? {over Keith Urban, etc.?}
Mama Hen/Bull out...
Hen
As BP stated in the blog, BP agreed with your husband and others that Taylor is not the great singer. She sounds great on CD but live she is not so great. Did you just skim my blog? Entertainer of the year...MOST DEF. Entertainer of the year does not have as much to do with singing as it does ENTERTAINING...hence the word ENTERTAINER. Taylor is a great entertainer. The only award you might say Taylor doesn't derserve is her Grammy Award for Best Female Vocalist. Her album of year and entertainer of year is legit.
So basically what BP hears is that Hen agrees with BP and not her husband since the only topic that you agree with your hubby on is that she isn't a good singer and BP stated that in his blog.
BP OUT AGAIN
Regardless of whether she can sing or deserves this award or that award, one this is for sure. She is making some money because she already has bought everything she ever wanted. That is why she is having to be creative on what to spend her money on like say putting a moat in her apartment or installing a human sized birdcage to house her brass telescope. Besides, all this talk about whether she can sing or not just sounds like sour grapes to me cause not everyone can afford moats in their houses.
