So BP is a little irritated and stressed this morning. So Erin has been hooked up to this wound vac since her surgery Friday night. None of the nurses at Crestwood (least in the maternity department) knew anything about this wound vac. Luckily Dr. Perterson had already set it up during surgery Friday night so all the nurses had to do was to carry it for Erin when Erin had to pee. So we got discharged yesterday (or really last night) but it was not a simple process.
Belinda arrived at the hospital at 7:30 yesterday to sit with Erin while BP went to work. BP figured Erin would be discharged by lunch at the latest. Well that didn't happen. First a case worker had to talk to Erin to get Home Health set up. That didn't happen until after lunch. Then Erin had to wait for some home health product rental agency to bring a wound vac that Erin was allowed to take home. Evidently the wound vac that Erin was hooked up to was the property of Crestwood and wasn't allowed in the outer world. So a new wound vac didn't show up till 7:00 pm. Now Erin had kept a smile for most of the day but by now Erin was just irritable and that was very much understandable cause all the Payne/Bates family were. BPand Erin's patience had ran out. BP and Erin had been the family patient that all the nurses wanted. So BP had to ref a couple of games last night from 6:00 to 8:00 and was for sure Erin would be home by the time he got home. That wasn't the case. BP jetted back to Crestwood after his last game to watch the nurse set up the wound vac. Erin's mom had got so irritated that she called the doc and told her to find someone who knew what they were doing and could set the wound vac up. When the wound vac arrived, all the nurses kept handing it off to other nurses cause no one knew how to work it. So the doc found a nurse from another department to set it up.
So at 9:30 the Payne's left the hospital. We got home at 10:30 to only find the wound vac not sucking at full strength. BP tried to fix it by adding more tape to the wound but there was still an our leak. At 12:15ish, Erin called a lady from her church (Mrs. Michelle - aka Mrs. M) to come over. Mrs. M use to be a nurse for home health. So Mrs. M showed up and verified what BP had found - our leak. She called home health to come out at 12:30am but after staying on hold for several minutes, they finally told her they didn't have any paper work on Erin yet since she got discharged so late. They couldn't come out. They did tell Mrs. M to take all the tape off and the sponge out and to pack it with wet gauze and they would be out in the morning. So Mrs. M ran to Wal Mart to buy supplies and gloves and started the painful process. At this time BP had to go to bed because he had already fell asleep one time at the wheel and had to get up early for work (more on work at the bottom). Erin should have stayed till morning at Crestwood and even Dr. A wanted her to but the insurance wouldn't pay for another day unless she was running a temp. So that mean either the nurses lie or the Payne's come home.
So this morning Mrs. M is on the phone with home health trying to get them out but they are trying to get all the paper work filled out. BP is pretty irritated/ticked/stressed right now. Hence the length of this blog. Crestwood was great except for this.
To add to his stress, there is a RIFF (Firing) that is happening today between 2:00 and 3:00. It is supposely giong to be a significant cut from the email that was sent yesterday. Another reason for long blog, BP has no desire to work at the moment.
Please keep Erin and BP in your prayers. They don't want her wound to become reinfected because of last night's events and BP really wants to keep his job.
However, Rowan is doing awesome. He is up to 7 situps a day and can take 2 steps with Daddy's help.

Wow, BP. So sorry it's been such a stressful process! We'll keep y'all in our prayers - that y'all both will get much needed rest and be able to enjoy this time with Rowan.
I am so sorry that you are dealing with all this stress right now. Keep your head up because the Lord is in control of all of this. We will pray for healing. So glad Rowan is doing well though.
BP, this too shall pass. This is frustrating and scary all at the same time, but remember to take a deep breath and trust in the One who is in charge! Hospital stays are super frustrating because you are at the whim of the nurses and doctors and THEIR schedules/abilities. I remember being so frustrated that I had to wait 2 days to see my urologist (the best in the city...hence the wait) when I was DYING of pain. I just couldn't understand why I wasn't their number one priority!!!
Just know that this WILL be taken care of, and Erin will be doing great before you know it. I have confidence she is not going to get another infection! Praise the Lord that Rowan is a trooper and not giving you any problems...God is good - has not given you more than you can handle!!!
I am just now reading this. Wow, praying for you guys. For strength, patience, healing, etc. Bless Erin's heart. Wow. Glad that Rowan is doing well and that you have family so close to help out!!
